are pleased to announce their

            14th INTERNATIONAL CONTEST OF CARICATURE AND CARTOON OF VIANDEN

1. Subject:

AI (artificial intelligence, robotics, digit…)
18 April 2021 

3. Prizes:
 1st prize:1500 €, 2nd prize: 1000 €, 3rd prize: 500 €, 3 honourable mentions

4. Entries:
 Each participant can submit up to 4 entries in digital format by sending them via internet to the following address: cartoon@caricature.eu. The author must include the following details in his or her e-mail: first name, last name, complete address, e-mail address, phone number and the title or the number of each submission. The specifications for these electronic submissions are as follows: format JPEG, good quality, and max. 1, 5 MB per picture. Out of these submissions, will be made a selection of 70-120 drawings. Only the awarded artists will be invited to send the original work by mail. All these works will be shown as prints at the exhibition and in the catalogue. Their size should be between A4 (210x297mm) and A3 (297x420mm).

5. Technique:
Free, black and white or in colour, without subtitles.

6.Prizes andExhibition:
The announcement of the prizes and honourable mentions will happen on 8 May 2021 in Castle of Vianden and the exhibition will take place in the Hall of the Knights of the Castle of Vianden from 9 May 2021 until 31 May 2021. There are plans to display the exhibits in the Museum of Caricature and Cartoon of Vianden and in other cities or country.

7. Returns:
The drawings that were awarded one of the prizes will become property of the organizer.

8. Catalogue:
The authors whose submissions are selected for the exhibition will receive a free catalogue by mail.

9. Results:
The results will be published on the website www.caricature.eu on 9thMay 2021.
The award winners selected by the jury will be personally informed via e-mail or by phone. The final decisions of the jury are incontestable.

10. Copyright:
The selected participants give the organizers permission to use their drawings only for promoting the artist and the event itself. Every other aspect of the copyright remains with the artist (except for the awarded submissions). It ensures that the awarded works can no longer be submitted in other contests or published by their authors or third parties after the official publication of the results.

Il Victor Hugo di Agim Sulaj

Victor Hugo - Agim Sulaj 


Victor Hugo (1802-1885) si fermò a Vianden in diverse occasioni fra il 1862 e il 1871 e descrisse la bellezza della cittadina lussemburghese in prosa, in poesia e in alcuni disegni. Il contributo di Hugo per la promozione dell'immagine turistica di Vianden nel resto del mondo è stato decisivo ed è raccolto nella casa divenuta museo.
Agim Sulaj, negli anni scorsi, vincendovi premi e facendovi mostre ha potuto soggiornare ed immergersi in quei verdi paesaggi e capire quanto il drammaturgo francese avesse amato Vianden.
Il maestro Agim Sulaj ha  interpretato il ritratto in modo fantastico: Hugo fa parte del paesaggio, della terra e dalla sua mente si erge il castello.

Due dei disegni di Victor Hugo conservati tra le tante cose nella casa museo a lui dedicata a Vianden:

L'uomo con la valigia

Lo straniero - Agim Sulaj

L'uomo con la valigia che Agim Sulaj  tante volte ha ritratto da più angolazioni, quest'estate ci  invita a seguirlo in varie parte d'Europa a visitare le sue mostre.
La valigia, simbolo per l'artista di sofferenze, disegnata, ora galleggiante come una barca sui mari impetuosi, ora tutta sfondata, ora casa di chi non ha nulla è sempre piena di solitudine e nostalgie.
Ma la  valigia personale di Agim non assomiglia a quella da lui ritratta  povera e sfondata (simbolo dei popoli poveri e migranti),  ma è piena  di meritate soddisfazioni, che sta ricevendo ovunque si presenti...

Ogni vincitore del Gran Premio di Esopo d'Oro - il premio più alto e più prestigioso assegnato alla Biennale Internazionale di Gabrovo - ha diritto ad una mostra personale alla prossima edizione della Biennale. Quindi, AGIM Sulaj vincitore nel 2009, sta esibendo 12 riproduzioni dei suoi disegni e dipinti.

La raccolta di Sulaj rivela il suo vivo interesse per le questioni sociali e politiche dell'Europa unita. Più importante per lui è la materia di immigrazione spinto dalla sopravvivenza fisica del popolo. Agim Sulaj dipinge un ritratto psicologico di povertà, si rende il destino dell'emigrante e la nostalgia per la madrepatria, con l'angoscia e l'empatia di una esperienza personale. L'artista dipinge una galleria di immagini tipiche da vari strati della società, offrendo una magistrale illustrazione delle loro relazioni con i mezzi di sarcasmo caricatura e intenso.

Agim Sulaj è un artista di fama mondiale, il disegno e pittura per lui continuano ad essere ancora divertimento e gioia che fanno passare il tempo impercettibilmente.

Ricco il suo palmares con prestigiosi premi vinti in Italia (Tolentino, Cuneo) e all’estero (Portogallo, Bulgaria, Turchia, Germania, Spagna, Belgio, Francia, Kosovo, USA). Le sue opere sono esposte nei più importanti musei e collezioni del settore.

Nella ridente cittadina di Vianden, nel Lussemburgo nei giorni scorsi si è tenuta per il quarto anno consecutivo il Concorso Internazionale della caricatura e fumetto  Vianden 2011.
La premiazione è avvenuta nelle sale dello splendido castello.
Primo premio ad Alessandro Gatto (Italia) , secondo premio a Stefaan Provijn (Belgio), terzo premio ad Agim Sulaj (Albania-Italia)*

Subject:                  Capitalism
Le capitalisme, une histoire d’amour… et de l’oubli !?
 Deux ans après la crise financière initiée en 2007 et encore en cours en 2011, le réalisateur américain Michael Moore présente en octobre 2009 son film « Capitalism – a love story » (« Capitalisme, une histoire d’amour »). L’auteur y dénonce les nombreuses immoralités du système économique actuel qui de nos jours semble constituer le seul et l’unique « ordre du monde » possible. A forte raison, nous jetons en 2011 un regard critique et correcteur sur ce « nouvel ordre mondial » qui a été décrété par l’ancien président américain Georges Bush sen. Le 11 septembre 1990 devant le Congrès américain dans une atmosphère de l’immédiat après guerre-froide. Les années suivantes ont montré au combien cet ordre se réduisait à la pensée unique « néolibérale » d’une économie de marché sans frontière, ni loi et limites. Au lendemain de la ravageuse crise financière de 2007, des économistes nous voulaient faire comprendre que leur doctrine considère la destruction massive de l’argent pendant toute crise comme inhérente et ingrédient nécessaire à la machinerie économique depuis toujours. Hélas, fini cette histoire d’amour avec ce « turbo-capitalisme » qui se tourne contre les hommes et les nations. Le voile est levé à la promise séduisante, le masque est arraché – une fois de plus – au diable déguisé. Vingt ans après les annonces de Georges Bush sen., Michael Moore conclut son film en postulant : « Le Capitalisme est le Mal (« Capitalism is evil »). Et ce mal doit être éliminé.» Certes, nous n’arrivons pas tous à cette conclusion, mais nous apprécions davantage les caricatures et cartoons exposés au château de Vianden qui nous raconte, révèle, témoigne de cette histoire d’amour qui a tourné mal. Avec les dessinateurs nous dénonçons les rêves des baignades dans l’or et l’argent à la Donald Duck, les histoires de la toute puissance à la momentanée toute-puissance monétaire de la République Populaire de Chine, les errances des « capitalistes » insatiables, ces petits hommes gonflés, bien costumés en noir et portant à leur tête des hauts de forme, prête à conclure un nouveau gentlemen’s agreement qui leur rapporte du « Win-Win » !(continua)
